Rolling hills, stone villages and scenic drives. This simple three-day Peak District itinerary is perfect for a first visit and shows you the best of the region without rushing.
Start in Castleton, one of the Peak District’s prettiest villages. Wander the streets, then drive through dramatic Winnats Pass before heading up Mam Tor for classic Peak views.
Spend the afternoon in Bakewell. Walk along the River Wye, explore the gardens, and stop for the famous Bakewell pudding before settling in for the evening.
Explore Chatsworth House and its vast gardens. Waterfalls, sculptures and countryside views make this one of the Peak District’s must-see spots.
Base yourself in Baslow for a relaxed evening. Cosy pubs, quiet lanes and countryside views make it an ideal place to slow down.
Walk or cycle the Monsal Trail, one of the Peaks’ most scenic routes. Tunnels, valleys and the iconic Monsal Viaduct are the highlights.
Spring and autumn are best, with mild weather, colourful scenery and fewer crowds. Summer is busier, while winter is quieter and perfect for cosy pub stops.
Baslow, Bakewell or Hathersage are ideal bases, close to walks, villages and scenic drives, with cosy inns and countryside hotels.
