Beauty Advent Calendars – Christmas 2018

Beauty Advent Calendars – Christmas 2018

I feel I’m barely out of holiday mode and already throwing myself in to Christmas. We had a fantastic dose of winter sun but as soon as we arrived in the UK, we were hit by the full force of the festive season. I love everything about Christmas and I’m not one of those adverse to shops stocked with Christmas decorations and gifts come Autumn. I soak it all up and throw myself in whole-heartedly.

So when an opportunity to review Beauty Advent Calendars with Boots presented itself, I snapped it up. I’ve always bought traditional chocolate advent calendars for the kids and I, but glam calendars have taken off in a big way.

My sister bought one a couple of years ago and it was full of lots of goodies, so this year I’ve decided to spoil myself too. I’m not quite sure which one I will go for as of yet but it will be a reasonably priced one. I refuse to buy one of the high-end calendars, as it’s just a little fun with a treat along the way and the Boots calendars are reasonably priced.

I know many bloggers and magazines published their reviews last month but I took a complete break from my blog while on holiday.

For the sake of transparency, this is not a paid promotion. I am doing a run down of the products on offer and have been gifted the Sleek makeup calendar for review purposes. Boots has over 15 different calendars to choose from. I prefer make-up products but if I find a lotion or perfume behind one of the doors, that will still do nicely. Here are the ones that stood out to me.

Disney Princess Advent Calendar

I love all things Disney. I find myself buying lots of Disney gifts for family and friends at Christmas and I don’t think you can ever be too old for anything Disney. We went on a big holiday in Orlando last summer and since then I’ve been even more obsessed. You can get your hands on this for £16. I think you get great value for money with hand creams, bath salts, bubble bath and lip balms. It’s a really cute calendar and is the perfect treat if you have a little girl who’s old enough to want to use the products with a sprinkle of Disney magic thrown in.

12 Days of Liz Earle Advent Calendar

This calendar is in the higher range of calendars at Boots. It’s £80 but it’s a dream for those who love skincare products. I have a couple of Liz Earle products including the toner and hand cream. These are products I replace as soon as they have run out and I’ve always wanted to try more products from the brand. This calendar has a wide range of goodies from their entire range so if you prefer to try smaller bottles before you buy the full-size then it’s worth considering getting your hands on this. You can find a lip balm, shampoo and conditioner, cleansing mask, body cream and exfoliator among the products hidden behind the twelve doors.

Soap and Glory Advent Calendar

My shopping basket at Christmas is filled with Soap and Glory gift sets. They make lovely presents and with the 3 for 2 offer, you can’t go wrong. I’m never disappointed whenever someone gifts me something from Soap and Glory because I love the products and you get decent sizes too. So if you’re just trying out the brand for the first time or are an S&G fan like myself, then this calendar is for you.You will find a mix of make-up and skincare products behind each door including body washes, scrubs, hand creams, mascara and lip glosses. And you get 24 days of treats instead of 12 like some of the higher end calendars.

No7 Advent Calendar

Again you get 24 goodies with this calendar including mascara, lipstick, eye cream, tweezers and night cream. I love the rose gold and black colours used and you won’t be disappointed whether you buy this for yourself or as a gift for someone else.Personally I would put a lot of these items in to my travel bag for short breaks or overnight stays. They’re the perfect size for your on-the-go make-up bag too.

My Mood Advent Calendar

This calendar is mega cute and it’s probably something I will buy for my Shalini who’s turning 13 next week. She loves bath bombs and fizzers. She is too young for make-up  in my opinion and too old for chocolate calendars in her opinion! So this is a nice way of her getting a calendar all to herself with a special treat she will actually use. You get 12 mini bath fizzes in this and for £20 it’s worth the price. We’ve never used My Mood products before so this is a good way of testing them out.

WE Beauty Advent Calendar

This is one of the higher-end calendars at Boots at £70. What I like about it is that it has treats from a range of brands and that’s great when you just can’t settle on one. You’ll find 24 treats from No7, Soap & Glory, MASQD, Liz Earle and more.

You’ll get a mix of products in this including hairspray, shower gel, eye lash curler, bath fizzes, body lotion and lots more from different brands. What’s extra special about this is that £2 from every calendar sold goes to the WE Charity.

Jack Wills Advent Calendar

This calendar is £35 and is quite a hit with teenagers. A range of bath and shower treats, lotions and nail care gifts are hidden behind the 24 doors.I like the fact that you get four mini nail polishes and lip balms too. Again this calendar would be perfect for Shalini, as she’ll be able to use all of the products included.

Sleek Advent Calendar

I have a fair few Sleek make-up products in my collection. This calendar is reasonably priced at £35, especially because you get a wide range of items. The contents are actually worth £55 so you’re getting quite a deal.

There are a few lip creams hidden behind the 25 doors, eye pencils, lip pencils, eyeshadows and nail varnishes. You could actually gift this to someone if you didn’t want to use it as an advent calendar. There’s pretty much everything you need for a starter make-up kit.

I haven’t opened this yet because I’m planning to reveal the products on my Insta Story each day during Blogmas. So make sure you’re following me on Instagram.

I hope you found this rundown useful. And there’s still plenty of time to treat yourself or someone special before the first of December.
