Blogmas 11 – A Christmas Poem

 

Christmas is a time for family,

with the promise of fun and snow.

It’s a time for giving and receiving,

and a kiss under the mistletoe.

 

The end of year approaches,

and we all need some TLC.

I love to relax in the warmth

watching the flicker of lights on the tree.

 

The scented candles have been lit

and you’ve already decked out the halls.

Spending time with friends and colleagues

on nights out and parties and balls

 

Christmas songs fill the air

Silent Night and Jingle Bells,

I love movie nights with the kids

and lunch dates with my gals

 

Days are filled with over-indulging

and tucking in to festive treats.

There are foods of every kind,

snacks, hot drinks and sweets.

 

Smile and be merry, children

because Santa is on his way.

He has something special for everyone,

in his sackful of gifts on his sleigh

 

Front doors are decorated with holly

Advent calendars count down the days

It’s my favourite time of the year

I just can’t wait for the holidays

 

So enjoy the festivities one and all,

it’s the season of goodwill and cheer

Here’s to a bright and peaceful 2019

Let’s raise a glass to the new year
