A Rosie World has been going for over a year now and in that time I’ve made so many friends in the blogging community. These wonderful bloggers write about all subjects; fashion, beauty, travel and food.
I’m pleased to welcome Amrit from Amaretto’s World as my first guest blogger. We both work as radio producers and met at work. We have been great friends ever since. In fact, Amrit is one of the people who inspired me to start my own blog. She is quite the go-getter and has so much passion and zest for life, extending this invitation to her was a no-brainer.
So over to you Amrit…Firstly before I begin, I have to change that last word to ‘afternoon’, and here’s why…
My name’s Amrit and I’m the creative force behind all things Amaretto’s World. As well as blogging, modelling, creating YouTube videos, hosting events, and campaigning for body confidence, believe it or not I actually have a day (technically night) job. I work on a late night radio programme which is a big influence on my day-to-day dressing.
There are several factors which contribute to my regular look and style. The first one being that I commute near to 120 miles a day. Each week! I don’t know about you, but that’s a hell of a lot of sitting down for long periods, walking to and from stations and hiking up and down a lot of stairs! So naturally comfort is a massive factor to my weekly wardrobe.
COMFORT CLOTHES
What do you think of when you hear the word ‘comfort’? Baggy jumpers, joggers, slippers, hoodies? Yep, me too! And that’s exactly what I incorporate to my everyday look (minus the slippers of course). I believe there’s always a way to look presentable in whatever you’re wearing and that’s down to two things – how you style an outfit and how you carry it.
Maybe three things, because let’s face it the style of garment does count too! I wear a lot of trousers that have a sports feel for example, office trousers with a trendy stripe down the side of the leg or culottes.
My favourite trouser item though has to be leggings! I own all kinds from standard black, to checkered and dog-toothed. But my most favourite is the classic Adidas three-stipe. I have a few in interesting colours! I also love crewneck jumpers and band tees.
HAIRSTYLES
I like to start my week off according to my mood. If I have a positive and enthusiastic attitude on a Monday, it helps me carry on with my week. I think I take a little extra care with my Monday morning (more like afternoon) look because I want to feel this particular way.
There’s simple ways you can do this. For instance I might wear a basic comfy outfit, but on a Monday I’m most likely to have freshly washed hair – so I’ll wear my hair down.
Wearing my hair down always makes me feel good because my hair is so long, that I usually tie it up for convenience and doesn’t feel as special. Other things I might do is wear some extra makeup like eyeliner or a bright lipstick.
For anyone that knows me, winged eyeliner is my signature look (inspired by Amy Winehouse of course) however since working later hours and waking up later, I save time and leave that for dressing up.
MAKEUP
Makeup is something that can really enhance your look. My everyday look normally consists of brow product, a little concealer on the odd mark and some bronzer. I don’t like wearing a lot in the week (unless I might be filming something) because of my late nights.
I want to keep my face as comfortable and clean as possible. But wearing makeup at the beginning of the week can really encourage me to have a go-get-em mindset to slay!
Throughout the week I’ll continue with my casual ‘comfort-first’ style although it’s noticeable that I begin to make less effort. It’s important to note here that this doesn’t change on the style-o-metre. I switch up my look by wearing my hair in a pony, top knot bun or braids.
Because I have pretty long hair, these three options are the easiest for me with minimal faff but also look great. Instead of applying makeup, I rely on the help of accessories to do the talking for me. A trusty pair of hoops or a hat can be a game changer!
SHOES
Now let’s talk shoes. I am quite the shoe hoarder and love everything from boots to trainers; trainers being my favourite. I wear them with everything – even my Asian outfits. I have a special glittery pair that come out on fancy occasions. They’re the comfiest type of footwear to wear if you’re constantly on the go like me.
I do miss wearing a nice heeled boot or smart brogue, but they work just as well on the style front as they do for comfort. I like mixing up a girly look, for example teaming a floral dress with some crisp Air Force Ones or Converse.
I’d describe my regular weekday look as sporty chic or ‘everything-goes’ because I make a conscious decision when buying my clothes, that there’s a reason or need for me to wear that piece with another item I own or wish to buy. This way, you’re happy with the clothes you have in your wardrobe and it helps make the decision what to wear a little bit easier!
I hope you enjoyed reading about how Amrit decides what to wear in the morning. Do keep in touch with her. Check her fashion, style and body confidence work over at Amarettos World.

Thanks Jaki x
Your hair is lovely, I hate mornings, but I like to this thing where I go through each item so I know I have used. I then remember what I have less likely to splash out as I already have a ton of clothes X #twinklttueaday

Thanks Laura. I’ve stopped doing that now too but I do have an order for jackets, jumpers, shirts/blouses, dresses and skirts. It’s nice to know what I’m reaching in my cupboard for and at which end!
