Monthly Beauty Favourites – January 2021

I love talking about beauty, skincare and haircare and trying out new products. I’ve made a few Reels over on Instagram in the last couple of months looking at some of my favourite products. Here are my Monthly Beauty Favourites – January 2021.

Lavoi Hair Growth Oil

This month I’m starting with this hair oil because it’s been my most favourite product in the last couple of months. I’m on my third bottle. It’s a hair oil elixir with a natural caffeine stimulator for hair growth.

I came across it by chance on Instagram and decided to try it out. The first time I used it, I massaged it into my scalp and left it in overnight. My hair felt super soft and shiny post-washing and blow drying the folllowing day.Lavoi Hair Growth OilI use it once a week in the same way and throughout the week I use it as a serum, to control fly-aways and just give my hair a bit of a boost.

It contains various oils like coconut, olive and acrerola but it doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy at all. A little goes a long way, so your handy little bottle will last a while.

The cardboard tube packaging is cute and I’m here for the glass bottle (yay for the planet!) The handy pipette makes it easy to use on your roots and it smells divine. I loved mine so much I even bought my husband the Hair and Beard Elixir for Christmas.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar Eyeshadow

I’m a huge fan of eyeshadow sticks. Don’t get me wrong, nothing can replace the beauty of palettes but sometimes when I’m in a rush, I reach for one of the many eyeshadow sticks in my collection.

Some of them are long-lasting but some colours tend to disappear during the course of the day.

I was a little reluctant to buy this By Terry eyeshadow stick at first because it’s a bit on the pricey side. But I treated myself at Christmas and have fallen in love. With this high-end eyeshadow stick, you definitely get the quality you pay for.ByTerry Black Ombrestar EyeshadowIt literally glides on and is super easy to blend. I was sceptical about it’s staying power but I was pleasantly surprised. Sometimes I use it alone all over the lid and sometimes I blend it out with a matte eyeshadow in my crease.

I’m excited to get my hands on other colours in the range, like plum and mauve.

Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream

I have been using and raving about these Milani liquid lipsticks since I first got my hands on them in 2015. They weren’t available in the UK when I first discovered them on a visit to the US.

So I bought a whole load and every couple of years, would restock when holidaying in America. I’ve championed them with friends and family over the years, picking up extras as gifts or orders!Milani Amore Matte Lip CreamThey’re highly pigmented and their staying power easily rivals some of the higher brands I own and love, for a fraction of the price. You can choose from 33 shades, so you’ll always be able to find something to match your skin tone.

Once I’ve applied it in the morning, I rarely ever have to top it up during the day. Trust me when I say it doesn’t budge until you physically remove it. I created a Reels video swatching all the colours I have in my collection. Check it out if you’d like to see the variety of shades. The shade you see here is called ‘Precious’.

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

I’ve always been a Mac foundation girl – and it’s only been in the last couple of years, that I’ve added other brands to my collection. These include Fenty, NYX, Giorgio Armani and Too Faced. I never really wear the same brand on two consecutive days because I like to go for different looks and finishes.

I’ve never owned anything from Nars before. As we’re in lockdown, I had to trust a beauty blogger on which shade to buy because her skin tone is close to mine. I can honestly say I am in love with this foundation and can’t believe I didn’t have it in my collection till now.Nars Radiant Longwear FoundationIt’s lightweight and gives a nice natural-looking finish. It’s so easy to blend and I usually mix it with a bit of my Becca backlight priming filter, which I wrote about here. I usually go for a medium finish but it can easily be built up to full coverage.

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

I have been using The Ordinary products for a couple of years now. At first, the scientific and complicated names took some getting used to. But I did my research and created my AM and PM skincare regime.

I love the no-nonsense packaging and the products are affordable too.

One of my favourite products in the range is the 100% Rosehip Seed Oil. It helps to hydrate and protect skin, reduce wrinkles, target signs of photoageing and can help reduce scars and tackle dark spots. The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed OilThis is the last step in my night time routine. I massage it in to my skin after my water and cream-based treatments. I then use a facial massage tool to really push it into my skin. A little goes a long way, so use it sparingly.

So that’s my monthly beauty favourites – January 2021. If you have any questions about the products I’ve mentioned, drop me a comment below. What are your beauty faves at the moment?
