We Love Chinese Food (Living Arrows)

Welcome back to my photo adventure, Living Arrows, which is about celebrating childhood. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran. “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”.

I’ll share photos of both Shalini and Shivam from our week. These will be simple photos that capture a moment of childhood.

We went to watch the Bollywood musical, Taj Express this week. Read about that here. I picked up the kids after work and we headed back into town for a spot of dinner before we had to be at the theatre. We Love Chinese - Shivam looks forward to his chow meinI gave the kids a few options but I had already guessed where they wanted to eat. They love Chinese food and so heading to Chinatown in Birmingham was a no-brainer. There are so many restaurants and cafes to choose from. We went into a small noodle bar with only a handful of tables. We Love Chinese - Shalini enjoys her chow mien

Normally, if we went with Sukh, we would order a number of dishes and take our time but we only had an hour before the show so we kept it simple. The kids had a quick look at the menu and decided on prawn on toast as a starter followed by a chicken chow mein and a spicy chicken stir-fry.We Love Chinese - Shivam eats prawn toastI love that both Shalini and Shivam are adventurous with food and like to try a variety of cuisines. Indian food is their favourite, closely followed by Thai and Chinese. Thankfully I’ve never had an issue like some of my friends and family, when it comes to their kids and food.

I got them used to different kinds of food items from a young age and now eating out or cooking meals is so much easier. Both of them particularly love Sushi and when we have a bit more time on our hands next time, I’ve promised to take them to a nice sushi near me

Thankfully it’s been fairly easy for me but we have our moments. My stern advice to the kids is to at least try something before dismissing it x
