Karnataka Uncovered: The Ultimate Guide to Must-See Spots

Whenever I get the chance to explore somewhere new in India, I’m all in. It’s like a magnetic pull because, as I always say, India has my heart. And Karnataka did not disappoint. From the lush coffee plantations of Coorg to the misty hills of Chikkamagaluru, the lively streets of Bangalore and the wildlife wonderland of Nagarhole, this state is a mix of everything I love about India – adventure, culture, nature and a whole lot of flavour. If you’re anything like me, you’ll fall head over heels for the variety and richness of experiences this place has to offer.

Karnataka’s slogan is ‘One State, Many Worlds,’ and it couldn’t be more accurate. You can visit the historic Mysore Palace, hike the green hills or sip on coffee fresh from plantations. There’s something here for everyone and every corner of Karnataka feels like it’s part of its own unique little world. But somehow, it all comes together in the most perfect way.Coorg skylineIn this Karnataka Uncovered guide, I’ll take you through the best bits of this incredible state – what I did, what I loved and where I stayed. Whether you’re into history, adventure or amazing food (trust me, the food here is next level), you’re in the right place.

So, go ahead and grab a cup of coffee (it’s pretty much a Karnataka tradition!), and let’s dive into everything this beautiful state has to offer.

1. Bangalore: The Urban Jungle

Bangalore (or Bengaluru) is India’s tech hub, where modern malls and tech parks sit alongside green spaces, colonial buildings, and a rich cultural scene. It’s a city that blends fast-paced urban life with peaceful retreats. The weather stays mild year-round – not as hot as Delhi or as humid as Mumbai. There’s a reason they call it the ‘Garden City.’ It’s a lively city and I was lucky enough to have a whole day-and-a-half to explore it solo. The streets of Bangalore

What to Do:

ISKCON Temple: ISKCON Temple is a peaceful escape from Bangalore’s buzz. Perched on a hill, it’s all about intricate carvings, calming chants, and a serene vibe. The mid-afternoon queues were worth it. I took it all in, watched the prayers, and felt right at home. This was a must for me as a Lord Krishna devotee.

Commercial Street: If you love shopping, Commercial Street is a must. This buzzing stretch (and the many side streets branching off it) is packed with everything from high-end boutiques to street vendors selling jewellery and clothes. I spent a couple of hours wandering through, picking up unique finds and gifts for my family. I’d broken my sunglasses on the way to India and managed to grab a new pair for £3! Commercial Street is also a great spot to grab some street food if you’re feeling peckish.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden: Lalbagh is Bangalore’s own green oasis. It’s more than just a park. It’s massive, with sprawling lawns, centuries-old trees, and a glasshouse that feels straight out of London’s Kew Gardens. Locals come here for their morning walks and evening jogs, but I spent a relaxed afternoon strolling, chilling on a bench, and people-watching.Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore
