Stories From Sharjah: Exploring Women-Only Travel

When you think of travelling in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Oman, your mind probably jumps straight to luxury resorts and tourist hotspots.

But the real magic? That’s happening off the beaten path, thanks to some incredible women breaking down barriers in a region where solo or women-only travel hasn’t always been straightforward.

Enter Jareb Tour Agency – a women-only space where adventurers of all ages, from 7 to 80, can explore the outdoors safely, comfortably and with a whole lot of fun.

We’re talking hiking rugged mountains, camping under starry skies, diving in crystal-clear waters, or riding horses through stunning landscapes. These adventures don’t just get you moving – they build confidence, create bonds and leave you buzzing with energy. The women behind Jareb Tour Agency for women-only travelHere’s the thing: women travelling here was never ‘forbidden’. It was just tricky. Social norms, limited opportunities, and safety concerns made solo or group adventures complicated.

That’s exactly why Jareb matters – it’s a safe, supportive space where women can push boundaries, try new things, and feel completely comfortable doing it.

Meet the Trio Behind Women-Only Travel in the UAE

The dynamic trio running Jareb is Sahar Sulaiman, Eman Hassan and Razan Sulaiman. Three passionate women changing the game. Their vision? To connect women through fitness, adventure and community.

It’s about more than tours – it’s about creating a sisterhood that lifts each other up. They run a monthly running club, bringing women from all walks of life together to get moving, share stories and build friendships.

This focus on connection is what makes women-only travel in the UAE with Jareb so special.

SBR.LAB: A Coffee Shop with a Community Feel

Alongside Jareb, the trio runs SBR.LAB, a unique coffee shop in Sharjah. It’s not flashy – it operates from their home and serves customers who order online. This creates a warm, intimate vibe where people can connect, chat and enjoy great coffee.

SBR.LAB is a perfect reflection of Jareb’s core values: community, comfort and connection. You don’t just visit – you become part of a family, which mirrors the welcoming atmosphere of women-only travel in the UAE with Jareb.Drinking tea in Sharjah

Cooking with Jareb: The Chabab Experience

One of my favourite moments on my journey with Stories From Sharjah was joining the women of Jareb for a cooking class. We made chabab – a traditional Emirati breakfast, a bit like thin, crispy pancakes flavoured with yeast, cardamom, and turmeric.

Chabab is usually served with rich, sweet date syrup, making it simple but delicious. Trying to make it myself was both fun and challenging – definitely not my natural talent.

But that’s the beauty of it. Cooking together was about sharing stories, laughter, and culture rather than getting it perfect.

This hands-on experience gave me a deeper connection to Emirati traditions and a greater appreciation for the women keeping these culinary customs alive.Cooking class with Jareb - the tour agency focusing on women-only travel

Why Women-Only Travel Matters

The importance of a women-only space in this part of the world can’t be overstated. Jareb provides a safe environment where women can be themselves, free from judgement or worry. It’s a place to explore, learn and grow together.

For many women, joining Jareb means breaking through fears and societal expectations.

Whether it’s climbing a mountain for the first time, camping alone, or diving into new experiences, they gain confidence and discover strengths they didn’t know they had.

The community is wonderfully diverse too – women from all over the world have found Jareb and made it their home away from home. Many are travelling for the first time, and Jareb’s safe, supportive approach makes all the difference.

Adventures That Build Confidence

Every trip, hike, or workshop with Jareb is designed to empower. From beginner-friendly hikes to more challenging adventures, there’s something for every fitness level.

It’s not just about physical activity – it’s about reclaiming space in a region where women’s outdoor adventures haven’t always been celebrated.

Jareb is changing that narrative, showing that women can lead, explore and thrive – together.Making pancakes with the women from Jareb

The Heart of Jareb: Community and Connection

Jareb isn’t just a tour agency. It’s a movement. It’s about women supporting women, building bonds that last long after the hikes and camps end. The women behind Jareb have created a family, a tribe, a safe haven where adventure meets sisterhood.

Their story is a reminder that travel can be transformative, especially when shared with others who understand your journey.

Women-only travel in the UAE doesn’t just open doors to adventure – it opens doors to self-discovery and friendship.
