You can easily combine both in one day – soak in the warmth of the hot springs and then take a short hike to the Emerald Pool for the ultimate Krabi nature experience.

When I was planning our family trip, these springs were one of the first things I added to the itinerary. In this guide, I’ll cover everything you need to know about these natural wonders – from where to find them to tips on making the most of your visit. The hot springs

 A Glimpse of Krabi’s History

Krabi, a beautiful coastal town on Thailand’s Andaman Sea, boasts a rich history. Once a small fishing village, its prime location made it a key port. Over time, Krabi transformed into a lively town that marries its historical charm with modern tourism. Today, it’s famous for its stunning limestone cliffs, crystal-clear waters and lush rainforests.

You can dive into Krabi’s cultural heritage through its traditional Thai architecture, vibrant markets and local festivals. It’s a top spot not just for its natural beauty but also for its friendly vibe and unique experiences. Whether you’re exploring ancient temples or savouring fresh seafood at bustling night markets, Krabi offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Discovering Krabi’s Hot Springs

Now let’s explore the hot springs. These natural pools are like nature giving you a warm, cosy hug. Tucked deep in the lush rainforests, they’re heated by geothermal magic from the Earth’s core, offering both relaxation and healing benefits.

We were in Thailand on a family holiday, spending two amazing weeks exploring Krabi, Bangkok and Phuket. The day we planned to visit the hot springs, the kids decided they’d rather have a pool day. Typical teens! But Sukh and I were determined to experience it, so we left the kids to their own devices and headed out for a little adventure of our own.People enjoying a dip at Khlong Thom

Klong Thom Hot Springs

LOCATION: Deep in the Klong Thom district, about 70 kilometers south of Krabi town, these hot springs are a must-visit for a truly relaxing experience.

Imagine sinking into a natural bathtub carved from smooth rocks, with water heated to a soothing 35-40°C (95-104°F). The mineral-rich waters are great for easing sore muscles and skin issues, but honestly, they’re just pure bliss. Whether you’re looking to unwind or enjoy a unique nature spot, these springs are perfect.

EXPERIENCE: The springs flow into a series of small, intimate pools surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle sound of water. It’s a magical, peaceful escape from the everyday hustle, where you can lose track of time as you soak in the warmth.

COST: Entry is quite affordable, usually around 100-200 THB for adults (about £2-5), with discounts for kids. A combo ticket with the nearby Emerald Pool is often around 200-300 THB, offering great value for a memorable experience.

DANGERS & TIPS: The springs are generally safe, but watch out – the rocks can be slippery, so water shoes or grippy sandals are a good idea. Limit your soak to 15-20 minutes at a time to avoid dizziness or dehydration. Remember to take breaks and drink plenty of water. For families with young kids, note that some pools can be deep, so keep a close eye on them and stick to shallower areas.Khlong Thom springs
