Hotel Review: Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa - A Rosie World

Hotel Review: Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa

Welcome to Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa, where luxury meets the warm embrace of Mexican hospitality. In this review, I’ll take a deep dive into why this resort is a shining five-star gem.

From its amazing facilities to its family-friendly vibes, couple retreats and a dreamy wedding venue, Dreams Riviera Cancun is your passport to an unforgettable Mexican vacation. Overview Of The Pool And BeachNestled along the pristine beaches of Cancun, Mexico, Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa beckons travellers with promises of a five-star experience like no other. I’ll explore the fantastic facilities and family-friendly features that had us booking this resort.

We had had quite a year. Shivam was born in 2009. The first few months were spent adjusting to life as a four. I’d decided to take the year off work to look after him. Shalini had just started school.

During my pregnancy, Sukh and I had discussed a big holiday, just somewhere beautiful where we could kick back and relax for a change. Our holidays are usually full of adventure and exploration but after such a busy year, we just wanted to unwind and spoil ourselves.Shivam and I Hugging At The BeachSo while Shivam was napping I would go online, searching for the perfect destination. I started looking into Cancun. My sister had been there on honeymoon and only had great things to say.

I made a shortlist of a few resorts I liked which were slightly away from downtown Cancun. We wanted a family holiday and Cancun is popular for hens and stags. So I looked at resorts in the Riviera Maya.Shalini Enjoys Chicken Wings From The Barefoot GrillI came across a holiday company called the Caribbean Warehouse specialising in Mexico and the Caribbean. I gave them a call and got a few quotes.

They offered us such a good deal that we booked it right away. Before long, we were packing our suitcases for the holiday we so badly craved.Shalini And I At A Cabana

Multiple swimming pools, including a dedicated children’s pool, ensure that every family member finds their perfect spot for fun in the sun.Shivam And Sukh Relax At The CabanaThe Explorer’s Club, designed for the younger ones, is a hub of supervised activities, ensuring kids have a blast while parents enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

Shalini went to the club a few times over the two weeks we were there. I was a bit apprehensive leaving her at first and a part of me felt guilty too. But she really wanted to do some of the activities they had lined up.

The staff was really friendly and reassured me she would be fine. We agreed to just keep her in for a short while on the first day to see if she liked it.Shalini Enjoys A Cold DrinkThey gave us a pager and when she was ready to be picked up, the pager would buzz. She had loved every minute and asked if she could go for a couple of hours each day.

The family-friendly atmosphere of the hotel extends to specialised menus and dining areas, making every meal a stress-free affair for parents and a tasty adventure for kids. The Kids And I At The Beach

The hotel has fancy dining spots that turn eating into a romantic adventure. Each restaurant is like a new chapter in your love story. Plus, there’s an adult only restaurant too. It’s called Bordeaux and serves French cuisine.Sukh And I At The BeachThe staff is all about making every moment feel romantic and extra special. It’s like they’ve mastered the art of turning the whole resort into a love-filled haven for couples.

It’s like they’ve got this magical touch to turn your wedding dreams into a beautiful reality. I know a famous influencer who tied the knot at Dreams Riviera Cancun and their full-blown Indian wedding looks amazing.Sukh With The Kids In The Pool

The Pool Scene: Dive into Paradise

At Dreams Riviera Cancun, they’ve got more than just one or two pools – they’ve got a whole range of them!

The main pool is huge and super inviting, making it the go-to spot for everyone or families can have a blast in the special pool just for kids.Me With A StarfishIf you’re into a calmer vibe, there’s also an infinity pool that looks out over the Caribbean. It’s perfect for relaxing and taking in the beautiful view.

Plus, there are comfy chairs where you can chill with a cocktail, soaking up the Mexican sun – basically, a perfect setup for a super relaxing and happy day.Shalini Playing On The Sandy BeachOur day would begin with getting our swimming gear together and going down to the family pool to grab a nice spot for the day.

As we were there during October, we were always able to secure a nice cabana and there wasn’t a mad rush for sun-beds like I’ve experienced on other holidays.

Shalini began the holiday with floats. She was so confident in the water, diving in, doing forward rolls and holding her breath underwater as long as she could. She made lots of friends and they would swim, chat and play games.Shalini Playing In The Pool

By the end of the trip, she was swimming, unaided. She had never had any swimming lessons and had taught herself this skill. Sukh and I were overjoyed. We had had no part to play in this (apart from making sure she was safe, of course!)

It was Shivam’s first time in a pool and he took to it like a duck to water. He splashed about in his swim seat and giggled as Shalini and the other kids entertained him with their antics. He wasn’t exposed to the sun for very long because we only kept him in the pool for twenty minutes at a time.

The temperature was around 32 degrees every day. It would tire him out anyway and he would sleep soundly in his stroller for an hour or so.Shivam In His Swim Seat

If we weren’t swimming, we were relaxing in the outdoor whirlpool. It was a really nice way to end our long days by the pool before heading back to our room to shower and change for dinner.

A Feast for the Senses at Dreams Riviera Cancun

If you’re someone who loves good food, you’re in for a treat. They’ve got a range of different restaurants and each one is like a little food adventure. You can taste authentic Mexican flavours or try out dishes from around the world – they’ve got something for everyone.

It’s not just about the number of restaurants; it’s about the exciting food journey waiting for you. Each restaurant has its own special theme, making every meal feel like a new and tasty experience. You know they’re serious about using quality ingredients – it’s like a five-star food affair.Shalini Enjoys Some PastaWe had never gone all-inclusive before. I’ve always been hesitant, especially when there are restrictions on a’la carte restaurant visits or the food and drinks seem basic.

We’ve always opted for bed and breakfast so we can choose where to have our lunches and evening meals. However, all-inclusive is the only option at this hotel and it is nothing less that amazing. The food was fantastic and the options so varied.

There were no limits on how many times you visited a single restaurant during your stay or even per night. One evening we dined at two a’la carte restaurants just because we could!Dinner At Oceana RestaurantWe would start our day with breakfast in the World Café, which served an international buffet three times a day.

Sukh and I would always start off with a fresh juice made with various greens like kale, spinach, pears and cucumber. It was just a refreshing way to begin the day.

The coffee shop onsite, Coco Café, had me hooked on to its mulata chocolate frappaccinos and it was so good to be able to grab a nice cup of tea after dinner.

The outdoor barbeque restaurant, The Barefoot Grill, opens every day around eleven o’clock and even though we had just eaten breakfast not long ago, swimming always made us peckish. And of course, we couldn’t resist the scrumptious chicken wings.

Sukh Enjoys Chicken Wings PoolsideEvery day, a chef would start up a huge wok poolside, where he would begin to cook the most beautiful paella. The smells were amazing and it tasted as good as it looked.

It was an added bonus to have fresh fruit platters delivered to our sun loungers by the friendly staff. It was also a nice touch just to order our drinks at the bar and then have them brought over to us.

After our meal, we would chill at The Rendezvous bar in the lobby. We stayed up till late because the kids were content and relaxed.Shivam In His Highchair At The World CafeOur favourite restaurant was Portofino, which serves Italian and Mediterranean food. The menu had many options but we particularly enjoyed the lamb shank.

We went back a few times for the dish. This is why unlimited luxury is the best option for us. I hate all-inclusive resorts that limit the amount you can eat at an a’la carte restaurant.Shalini And I At Portofino RestaurantMost hotels abroad have themed nights and we decided to check out the Mexican Night on evening. This was an outdoor event with a buffet and tables set up around the pool.

We didn’t enjoy the food as much as the restaurants but the evening’s entertainment made up for that. It was a fun night with traditional Mexican dance and fire eaters.Sukh Drinking A Mango Tango In The LobbyThe Pan-Asian restaurant, Himitsu, was an experience. We managed to book the Tepanyaki Table on the same day at the Concierge desk. The kids were really impressed with the show-cooking and the food was really good.

The chef cracked a few jokes, along with the eggs and we had a fun evening. It’s definitely a restaurant I would recommend visiting if you’re ever at a Dreams resort.

Elegance with a Touch of Mexico

Let’s talk about the decor. it’s like a perfect mix of fancy and cosy with a touch of Mexican flair. They’ve got the right balance of modern style and traditional vibes that make the whole place look amazing.

The rooms are  decked out with lively colours and little details that scream Mexico, making you feel super comfy and fancy at the same time. It’s like they’ve created this beautiful visual experience for everyone staying there.

The resort puts a lot of effort into creating a vibe that’s not just nice but also goes perfectly with the beautiful surroundings.

Every place you go, whether it’s the lobby or your room, shows how much they care about making things look good and making you feel at home in a beautiful setting.Sukh and Shalini In Front Of The LobbyWe were left speechless when we entered the lobby. It was a beautiful open space and definitely one of the best hotel lobbies I’ve seen to date. Wood panels adorn the ceiling, featuring a delightful water feature running through the centre.

Staff brought over a drink for us while we waited to be checked in. It was a mango tango mocktail and it became the drink of our holiday.Shivam In The Jacuzzi On The BalconyWe had booked a room with two queen beds and a tropical view but we preferred to overlook the resort and sea rather than other buildings and gardens, so we upgraded to a preferred club ocean view room with an outdoor Jacuzzi on our balcony.

They pay attention to every little thing – from the staff at the front desk helping you plan great day trips to the waiters remembering exactly how you like your coffee. This attention to detail is a big part of why the resort is known as a five-star gem.Shalini And I Outside Coco CafeThe best part? They don’t just meet your needs; they go above and beyond.
