If you’re heading to Orlando, Magic Kingdom is a must-visit. It’s Disney’s most iconic park, filled with classic rides, magical parades, and plenty of family-friendly fun.
In this guide, I’ll share how we planned our day, plus practical tips for making your visit enjoyable and stress-free. Along the way, I’ll highlight ways to beat the crowds and stay comfortable in the Florida heat.
Arrive Early and Plan Ahead
First thing’s first: get to Magic Kingdom before it opens. The park fills quickly, especially during weekends and school holidays. By arriving early, you can enjoy popular rides with shorter waits.
Next, consider purchasing Genie+ or Lightning Lane passes. These passes helped us skip long lines and pack more into our day. If you’re travelling with kids, this is a total game-changer.
Stay Cool and Comfortable Throughout the Day
Spending a full day outdoors means you need to prepare. For example, bring a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Moreover, wear breathable clothes and comfortable shoes.
In addition, it’s important to stay hydrated. Florida’s sun can be intense. Check out my detailed post on how to stay cool and comfortable to enjoy Orlando for more practical tips on beating the heat.
What to See and Do At Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom has something for everyone. Thrill-seekers will love Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. For younger kids, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and “it’s a small world” are perfect.
Besides rides, don’t miss the parades and fireworks. They really bring the park to life. Plus, allocate time to explore quieter areas like Liberty Square and Tom Sawyer Island to relax.
Dining and Snack Tips
Food queues can get long, so book your dining reservations early. Some popular spots fill up fast, especially for character dining.
Alternatively, bring snacks and refillable water bottles. These come in handy during wait times or when you need a quick energy boost.
Take Advantage of Extra Perks
If you’re staying at a Disney hotel, enjoy early park entry and extended hours. These perks allow more time to explore Magic Kingdom with fewer crowds.
Also, use the My Disney Experience app. It helps with wait times, dining reservations, and even locating your favourite characters.

Great video. We went to Disney in 2006 which feels like a lifetime ago now. I’d love to go back and you’re making me want to book it right now. #MMBC
